How do we bring together our food and beverage community and strengthen our local food system? In March of 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, we decided to explore turning a moment into a movement. We realized that we needed to work together to create real change, however, something was missing.
Caldwell Night Rodeo is one of the largest and longest-running annual events in Canyon County, drawing rodeo fans in excess of 45,000 over 7 action-packed nights. Listed among the Top 20 Professional Rodeos AND Top 5 Large Outdoor Rodeos in the nation, Caldwell Night Rodeo features the best professional cowboys, cowgirls and animal athletes in the world and is an annual stop on the professional rodeo tour.
We’ve been fighting against the current since 1948 to bring you the finest hops and onions western Idaho has to offer. Following the example of our founder Ray Obendorf — who started farming back in 1937 as a sophomore in high school — we have persevered for over 70 years by walking the fields to ensure good stewardship with the land. As the third generation of our family-owned farm follows in our grandfather’s footsteps our operation has grown to include over 3,000 acres of hops, 1200 acres of row crops and 800 head of cattle. Grow together with us as we continue our family tradition of hard work and respect for the land that provides our fruitful crop year after year.
We were founded to make a difference. The University of Idaho's role in the state's economic prosperity dates back to our inception. Our research-driven, innovative spirit began in agriculture, engineering and military sciences. We continue this tradition today, making an impact on all areas of industry. From providing a high-quality, accessible education — to leading breakthroughs in clean water, cybersecurity, healthcare, agronomics and fire science — we forge partnerships to improve the lives of all Idahoans.

We have a vibrant downtown with year-round events and activities, farm to fork restaurants that serve wine from the Sunnyslope Wine Region, and unique, local merchants. Plus, our countryside is filled with scenic vistas, working farms and ranches, and activities the entire family will love.

The wide variety of attractions and activities ensure that there is something for everyone to do, no matter the pace of your vacation. Let Destination Caldwell be your guide as you search the area's best agricultural and historical experiences, wineries, and thrilling entertainment, just a 30-minute drive from Boise, Idaho. Make sure to bring the ‘big truck’ (and have your camera ready); you’re going to have a bushel or two of memories to take back home with you.
