Named after the Kerry Hill sheep, that the owner lovingly raises, Kerry Hill Winery is an estate vineyard in the Snake River Valley with a new tasting room coming in late summer 2019. While the focus at Kerry Hill is producing beautiful, nuanced wines, the land is used for more than just growing grapes. They have designed their landscape to attract and nurture pollinators, owls, bats and raptors—providing them with native plants, flowers, and shelter. Respectful farming practices like these not only lead to better wine, but to a healthier ecosystem for the Snake River Valley and beyond.
Always longer tables and never higher fences, Kindred is a place to gather, drink great wine, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Built by the Bureau of Reclamation to provide irrigation water for Canyon County agriculture, Lake Lowell opened in 1909 and is one of the largest off-stream reservoirs in the American west, with the capacity to irrigate over 200,000 acres of land. It has also become a popular recreation destination for the county’s citizens and visitors. Boating, swimming and fishing are among the many activities that folks enjoy at this beautiful oasis in southwest Idaho. Bird watching, hiking and hunting are other recreation options due to the presence of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife’s Deer Flat National Refuge, also established in 1909. As part of the wildlife refuge, recreation on Lake Lowell’s shoreline and waters may be subject to seasonal restrictions.
The vintage vibe is alive and well at Lakeview Fruit in Caldwell, as it should be. Once a gas station in the 1930s and 40s, a local fruit grower bought it in the 70s and built the fruit stand, which he ran until his death in the 1990s. Three years ago local natives Tom Baxter and Chad Henggeler bought the property and did a complete remodel, including changing parking flow, adding coolers and enclosing the open sides. “We grow almost all the fruit we sell,” says co-owner Baxter. “We have 125 acres of peaches – stone fruits grow really well in the area because of the heat, they get really sugary.”
