Peaceful Belly recently put down roots (30 acres of them!) in Caldwell and is ready to expand their offerings, which includes cider and wine made onsite, in addition to a small restaurant and monthly farm dinners.

About Peaceful Belly Farm

Walking through the construction at Peaceful Belly Farm with owner Josie Erskine, you immediately start to see her vision. Not only do they operate a 30-acre fully-operational farm, but they are looking to add a culinary experience to their grounds – grounds they recently moved to from nearby Boise. The move was made so they could be even closer to sourcing almost all their ingredients from within a few miles, as well as an uptick in quality of life, according to Josie.


Their culinary vision, Vine & Branch Ranch, is set to open late 2018, and will offer a limited seasonal menu year-round. Everything will be locally-sourced (meat, wine, cider, beer, cheese, and of course, their own fruit and vegetables), and they have plans to add in grab-and-go meals down the road. Additionally, they will have a robust farm stand where you can pick up all the ingredients for a memorable meal sourced from the Caldwell area.


“It’s a very human desire to stumble upon a farm and have a whole experience,” explains Josie. “To be welcomed and to taste the terroir of your own backyard. We want this to be for the whole family - parents can taste wine and cider produced on-site, and kids can play in the nature garden or pick some strawberries. Everyone can have an exceptional meal.”


A huge part of their new renovation is expanding their cider-making operation, Stack Rock Cidery, as well as partnering with Snake River Winery, so they can produce and sell more on-site. Peaceful Belly has planted 27 different cider apple trees on the Caldwell farm, as well as 18 varieties of wine grapes. They are currently producing cider with local dessert apples from nearby farms in Caldwell and Parma, and are excited to move it all “in-farm.”


Even after the Vine & Branch Ranch’s opening, Peaceful Belly will continue to do their infamous monthly farm-to-fork dinners – these 5-course elaborate dinners feature all local ingredients cooked by top talent in the Treasure Valley. Not to be missed!
