ABOUT Blue Barn Produce

Around seven years ago, the Bicandi Family turned tragedy into triumph. Their two daughters had been selling corn in tents on their current 6-acre property in Caldwell when someone stole their tents and cashbox, causing matriarch Bobbi to turn around to the old barn on the property and say “Blue Barn Produce.” From there, they completely gutted, painted and cleaned out the old horse boarding facility onsite and turned it into the gorgeous big blue barn you see today.
“We were inspired by an old farm stand in Payette called Perdems,” says owner Bobbi Bicandi. “Everything was always immaculate, and they really supported a lot of local businesses. We have lots of regular customers, many come twice a week, and we want to make sure our space is up to their – and my - expectations.”

Corn is still their number one bestseller (they are famous for it around these parts), but they also do lots of peppers, peaches, tomatoes and pumpkins, among other vegetables. Most everything at the produce stand is sourced from about 25 acres (the family farms 2,400 altogether), and anything they can’t grow they get locally; berries from Emmett, cantaloupes and melons from Nyssa (Oregon), milk and cheese from the Buhl area and eggs locally. They also use the berries to make and label their own jam, and sell pies from local bakery Sweet Spot.

In addition to their strong farm stand, Blue Barn also does a lot of flowers. They have a greenhouse, and do hanging baskets and custom arrangements – they even started doing weddings this year! On their beautiful farm they hold two events each year, a “Mother’s Day Spring Fling” in May and a “Fall Harvest Festival” in October, each attracts a large crowd.
